In terms of mixed martial arts and our area of Ohio, Saturday's UFC 88 co-main event between area fighters Rich Franklin and Matt Hamill could be the biggest fight in history.

For those in the dark, Franklin, a former UFC middleweight champion, is moving up to light heavyweight (for the first time since an April 2005 victory over Ken Shamrock) to fight Hamill at Atlanta's Philips Arena.

Despite living just 30 miles apart and growing up at about the same time, Franklin and Hamill's paths never crossed until 2003. That's when one of Franklin's coaches brought in a hot-shot Olympic hopeful to help Franklin with his own
