Joe Lewis studied Shorin-ryu Karate with Eizo Shimabuku, Chinsaku Kinjo and Seiyu Oyata in Okinawa while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, earning his black belt in a mere seven months. He studied with the influential martial artist and Jeet Kune Do founder Bruce Lee. [4] Hong Kong cinema historian Bey Logan says Lewis was the original pick of Bruce Lee for the villain Colt in Way of the Dragon, but that Lee and Lewis had a falling out before the film and thus Chuck Norris was tabbed instead.

Greetings Joe, You were just fab man. I have been one of Cliff' Magic' Thomas' trainrs for many a decade. I wrote the book, 'Magic! Magic! Magic! I am still fairly active at near age 74 but have bad cancer and destructive ONJ. I just recovered from a stroke. I still train boxing/striking at El Paso Jiu Jitsu. I also started Randall 'Tex' Cobb off on his boxing career. We lived together for 6 months.

Cliff had 80 fights, 73-6-1, won 7 world championships in 5 different weight divisions, knocked out a fistful of world champions and 40 top ten contenders. And he was never officially down. Matter of fact, he was never beat up. He was featured on Wide world of Sports for many years with a clip of him breaking Paul Vizzio's jaw. Cliff never ducked any fighter and once even gave all top-ten contenders in his division a shot at his title. He finally retired in 2003 at age 46 after beating Michael Corleone for the super middleweight title of ISKA.Anyway, Cliff is here for now but will soon move back to Ft. Worth. It is difficult to think that he has not been nominated for the Blackbelt Hall of Fame. He was the first PKA fighter to win 2,3, and 4 championships and holds blackbelts in Tae Kwon do and in Kung fu.He was the first PKA fighter to hold two titles simultaneously when he knocked out Tommy Williams.

Have A Happy........Coach Tom'the wizard' McKay El PAso, Texas
