My Honor and Achievements
What seperates tenth planet jiu jitsu from other styles is its innovation and evolution. Some of the moves, like
The Rubber Guard
The Twister
Lock Down
have taken the jiu jitsu community by storm because of their originality and effectiveness. The moves mentioned here are so different that opponents do not know how tot react to them and they leave the practicioner in a unique position to execute with little to no defense from their opponent. Moreover, the beauty of the system does not stop there: Eddie and his students are constantly inventing new moves and counters to old moves in order to keep the style relevant and functioning. So, where other systems cease to grow, tenth planet finds itself in a situation where its entire focus is to continue its own growth.
When I started taking jiu-jitsu lessons in 1994, inspired by Brazilian jiu-jitsu icon Royce Gracie’s dominance in the early years of the Ultimate Fighting Championships, I Eddie Bravo was a guitar player just looking for a way to stay in shape so that he wouldn’t be a “fat rock star” when his band made it big.
The band broke up, but Bravo’s jiu-jitsu blew up. I started smoking marijuana, which I readily credits with helping me develop my radical style of jiu-jitsu in his second book, Mastering the Rubber Guard, which I offers step-by-step instructions on my favorite jiu-jitsu techniques, as well as a lengthy endorsement of marijuana use.
My style of jiu-jitsu is considered revolutionary. I am notorious for his dismissive attitude towards the gi—the traditional uniform worn by the practitioners of most martial arts of Asian origin—as an “an ancient superhero outfit” that teaches students nothing more than bad habits.
My Background
My Training style
Today, tenth planet jiu jitsu is housed inside of the Legends Gym in Hollywood. The chief instructor is Eddie Bravo, and he teaches all of the classes with the aid and assistance of his brown belts Scott Epstein, Jason Chambers, Sean Bolinger, and Brent Littell. My Fight style
Today,I am is a commentator for the UFC, with plans on competing only once more before retiring from the tournament circuit for good. I continues to spread my brand of jujitsu at Tenth Planet, my own Hollywood-based school, and with seminars across the globe. My third book will be released this summer. My techniques are constantly gaining in popularity, especially with notable MMA (mixed martial arts) fighters like Dean Lister and Japan’s Shinya Aoki, who demonstrate their effectiveness with wins at the highest levels of competition.

My Record
Bravo proved the merit of his ideas at the 2003 Abu Dhabi World Submission Wrestling Championships, the pinnacle event of submission grappling, by prevailing against the legendary Royler Gracie—an archetype of the system that Bravo was rejecting—in a win that shocked the world. That victory legitimized Bravo’s theories, launching the 5-foot-8, 160-pound California native into the upper echelon of the martial-arts world.
