Instructor Name:Renshi Dan O'Donnell
Child and adult jiu jitsu instructor

With over 20 years of experience, Sensei Dan O'Donnell is a 4th dan Renshi Black Belt in American Jiu-Jitsu, and a 1st dan Black Belt Japanese Kokusai Jiu-Jitsu Renmei under Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura. He is also very experienced in Iaido (traditional Samurai swordsmanship), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Fabio Gurgel, Roni Cardoso), and ecrima/arnis.

Sensei Dan, who works as an engineer, started teaching his two children at AJJC at a very young age. His warm personality, wealth of technique, and incredible patience make him a fantastic teacher.

What do I look to accomplish through training in the martial arts? The answer is to become a complete martial artist, which is the ability to combine the theoretical knowledge of jiu-jitsu technique along with practical application skills. What we teach and train in is this unique combination, inspiring students and ourselves to become adept in both areas of martial art training. The theoretical knowledge encompasses the theories and principles of jiu-jitsu, the history of the art as well character development, instilling the traits of respect, honor and focus. The practical application of the art is accomplished through the progressive use of free sparring, grappling and realistic practice of jiu-jitsu in a safe, mutually respective environment.

As I continue my training in jiu-jitsu, I look to not only increase my abilities in these two areas, but to also pass these traits on to the students I interact with.
